Federal Aid Programs for State of Nebraska Disaster Recovery

Following is a summary of key federal disaster aid programs that can be made available as needed and warranted under President Obama’s major disaster declaration issued for the State of Nebraska.

Assistance for the State and Affected Local Governments Can Include as Required:

  • Payment of not less than 75 percent of the eligible costs for repairing or replacing damaged public facilities, such as roads, bridges, utilities, buildings, schools, recreational areas and similar publicly owned property, as well as certain private non-profit organizations engaged in community service activities. Regional Administrators Important On Disaster Preparedness: FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate Swears In Tony Russell As New Region VI Administrator

“Regional Administrators are one of the most important positions in our agency, connecting our headquarters to the states and citizens we serve,” said FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate. “Tony is an experienced emergency manager and a dedicated public servant who has already shown his deep understanding of the team approach that is required for success in this field. I know he will continue to work closely with governors and leaders as he builds on the progress he has already made in Louisiana.”

Mr. Russell, whose official first day as Region VI Administrator was Monday, December 21st, has coordinated the federal disaster response and recovery support to state and local emergency management officials as a Federal Coordinating Officer (FCO) from FEMA Region VIII for more than six years.
